The Effects of Using Computers
in The Education
Since the 20th century, technology
has dramatically improved. These technologic developments can be most seen in
the computer. Today, computers are anywhere and people usually engage in
computers. They play games, communicate with others, search information, and
learn what is going on around the world. That is why it is a must to use the
computer in the education. Therefore, using the computer in the education in a
systematic way will bring some effects, which are being able to provide
one-on-one education, giving immediate feedback, evaluating students, easily handling
the routine works, and saving money.
First, to understand how students
will be affected with the concept of using the computer in the education, the
importance of providing one-on-one education must be definitely observed.
Generally, a class consists of at least 30 students and the time for a lecture
is limited. Furthermore, the lecture is studied for average students, so
students who are not capable of understanding the particular subject are more
likely to fail. To avoid that destiny, the one-on-one education system should
be applied to the education system. It cannot be expected from teachers to
teach the lecture one-on-one. However, the usage of the computer will allow
teachers to reach all of the students’ capacity. This process can be applied by
preparing videos, uploading them to the Internet, and directing students to
watch them and do some exercises.
Second, to understand how students
will be affected with the concept of using the computer in the education, the
importance of giving immediate feedback must be definitely observed. Generally,
when teachers give students assignments, some students may not understand how
they should be done. Even if they do their assignments, teachers may find it
difficult to give feedback to their students as teachers are usually
responsible for lots of students. Students who think that they are not capable
of doing their assignment may start to feel less excited about the particular
subject. To avoid that destiny, the feedback system must be recovered. Some of
computer programs that are programmed for feedback system can be applied to the
education system. When students make mistakes in a problem, they will get an
immediate feedback and a direction to how to solve the problem. When the
students see the solution of the problem is easy, they will start to enjoy
studying the lectures.
Third, to understand how teachers
will be affected with the concept of using the computer in the education, the
importance of evaluating students must be definitely observed. Generally,
teachers have difficulty in evaluating students as the assignments they give to
students take a lot of time to observe, find the mistakes, give points, and
order them in a systematic way. In addition, as this process takes a lot of
time, there is a high possibility that teachers do also some mistakes. To avoid
that destiny, the evaluation system must be applied to the computer. As
computers neither get tired nor make the mistakes as people can do, the
evaluation system will be perfect. Students will be able to see which solutions
they do are correct or incorrect. Then they will focus on their weakness and
get confident of their success.
Fourth, to understand how teachers
will be affected with the concept of using the computer in the education, the
importance of easily handling the routine works must be definitely observed.
The job of teachers involves a lot of routine works. Preparing documents,
keeping the attendances, submitting the exam results are the occupations that
teachers do not like to do, but they are required to do. However, as the
computer do not get bored of routine works, it is better to do these routine
works in the computer. Doing these routine works in the computer is not only
easy, but safe, too. The Internet provides an environment that lots of
documents can be easily saved; therefore, teachers can upload the documents
they prepare to the Internet and whenever they need those documents, they will
be next to them.
Finally, to understand how all of
the people who engage in the education will be affected with the concept of
using the computer in the education, the importance of saving money must be
definitely observed. An average student buys at least 10 books a year and a
student studies at least 12 years. In addition, students need notebooks to take
notes and assistant books for guidance. There are a lot of students in a
country, so books cost a lot of money to people. To avoid that destiny, the
usage of computer must be applied to the education system. If the usage of the
computer gets applied to the education system, students will not need books
because they will download them on the Internet. In addition, a lot of trees
are cut due to the need of papers. After that, there will be a less need to cut
trees, which also help to the ecology of the Earth.
To sum up, the concept of using the
computer in the education must be applied because it will provide one-on-one
education, help student get immediate feedback, help teachers evaluate
students, help teachers handle the routine works, and help the people who
engage in the education save the money they spend for books. These effects are
really important. If the usage of computer in education gets applied today, it
is unimaginable to think what will have happened by 2050. People in 2050 will
not understand what we have gone through to develop the education system, but
they will absolutely study in a better education system that we do.
